Old Skye vid

Back in March I was in Skye with Katy and we had fantastic weather whilst doing the Black Cullin traverse.  I have eventually got round to putting together a little video of some of our photos of the two day traverse.

Fricking cold on the mountain today! 🥶🥶🥶
Trust us to choose a shady route on very windy day 🤯🤦‍♂️

However, the Rotgrat on the Alphubel was as good as I hoped and it was even better as @lou.reynolds guided me up it very swiftly (we were cert Al wanted to squeeze in a couple of routes before his family arrived this afternoon so under the watchful eye of the soaring eagle, we did just that.
We also saw a Marmott so surely that's two of the 'chamonix big 5'!? 👌

Despite being #utmb week, Many highlights of working in Switzerland last week which including many folk their first, second or third 4000m peak. Who I thought was very impressive was Patrick (picture 1) who was able to climb Dufourspitze (4634m) in 4.5 hours from the hut and Nice to be climbing on a quieter part of the Alps today with @kennygrant_mtnguide

That said, the two routes we wanted to do were taken by the only other two teams that were at the crag! 🤨 Fair play to them as I hoped my 5.45am alarm would have put I figured it has been along time since I went alpine mountaineering with friends where we are all equals in the mountains, something I did alot of whilst preparing to become a guide. It was nice to forget about looking after guests and just enjoy the Last week I was back out with Alan and Chris, both have been waiting patiently for restrictions to be relaxed so they can enjoy some Alpine rock.

It was a mixed week to be fair, but improved for the last few days. It does seem a little quieter than Despite the weather we still managed to achieve our objectives although it seemed doubtful at first.

Uri was mostly keen to learn and develop his alpine skills so he can team up with his mates and be a valuable link in the chain and not be always fo Yesterday I took another two folk up the Alphubel via the Feechopf (pic 4) before fast marching up to the Almageller hut with @tom_grant_ and @dannyuhlmann to meet our clients before dinner 🏃☀️🥵

The @almagellerhuette was bustling with many teams g I'm not sure if these two were celebrating that we got lots of sun or the fact that we escaped the queue heading up the Allainhorn. It was busy up there today.🙄

Once we'd established ourselves onto the Feechopf, with only two other parties, we scra Lots of fresh snow yesterday gave way to a snowy ascent of Alphubel (4206m) today with Thomas, Laura and Andy. Going up was very close to perfect underfoot, the summit cross was partially buried once we got there and then the descent was mostly deep Our Mont Blanc week with 'Red' and 'Hof' kept us all on our toes in terms of finding the right weather window for the summit🤔. Whilst introducing them both to crampons and scrambling whilst we acclimatised, the window of opportunity looked promising Our traverse of the Monte Rosa over the last 4 days certainly kept us engaged. Some how we manage two hut nights where we were the only guests, we post holed our way to glory on a long glacier traverse, climbed a bunch of 4000'ers, slept in the highe The summer alpine season feels like it is just around the corner. 🌤🏔Opening dates are being shared for the major lifts🚠 and the peaks are currently recieving a good top up of snow! ❄❄❄

Plans are set in place for a busy summer of guiding and the p We drove past this route //Cascade des Viollins// every morning in the dark but once we saw it in the afternoon we had to climb it. The pillar was really good, sustained and fortunately well hooked. Every pitch had good chewy ice and was fun from bot So good to finally come to this area and spend some time ice climbing. Brilliant conditions for our 1st 3 days but @lou.reynolds and I managed to soaked to the skin yesterday on Davidof...and it was -9!!
Geronimo was pure class today!

#iceclimbing I felt a bit left out as I was the only one who didnt get new ski's for Christmas. But the skiing was really good with a top team!
@paul_swail @elliejrv @kennygrant_mtnguide @rhona.grant and Rob Good views from the crag today with @truenorthalpine .
Last day out in France 🇫🇷. Onto Switzerland 🇨🇭 tomorrow for 3 weeks. Not much too see but some good snow! No lifts, a shallow layer of well distributed powder, a firm base (grass) and good weather...it can mean only one thing...

#skiing #alps #snow #firmbase Definitely the best use of time in Scotland at the moment between storms and downpours. The Celtic Jumble in Torridon is personally my favourite venue for bouldering but the Ruthven Stone is a great single bloc (pic 1 - @murdochjamieson on QED). And
